Date of completion:
A relic street level pier destroyed by severe weather sits on Siesta Key and continues from the end of the road across the beach and into the water. The structure bisects two sides of the beach, making passage from one beach to the other difficult. The site becomes the foundation for a marine research facility that engages pedestrians and welcomes passage through the boundary.
The program includes an aquarium on the second level that invites passage beneath the underbelly of the tank. Administrative offices, research centers, cafes and learning centers complete the program.
