IMG World Headquarters
location: new york, new york
Designed by Richard Meier & Partners Architects, the challenge of the project was to construct the headquarters for IMG - sports, entertainment and media, and the parent company - private equity firm, Forstmann Little. Located on the forty fifth floor of the General Motors building in Manhattan, the space provides expansive views of Central Park and Fifth Avenue below. Custom fabricated clear glass partitions allow natural light to be shared between offices while a custom acid etched circular glass conference room maintains functional privacy. Artisan acoustical plaster, teak millwork and Spanish limestone complete the palette of materials.
The result of exquisite craftsmanship, simple and crisp detailing, as well as the seamless integration of lighting, materials and technology, is not only a testament to the contractor but to the design rigor practiced at RMP.

Cambridge Office
location: cambridge, massachusetts
Located in a subterranean space with a 7’ ceiling height, the design utilizes the cavities between the structural floor joists above to create illuminated pockets giving height to the office. Custom millwork and retractable bookcases serve as doorways to other parts of the program that include file storage and kitchen and bathroom areas.

Marine Research Facility
location: sarasota, florida
A relic street level pier destroyed by severe weather sits on Siesta Key and continues from the end of the road across the beach and into the water. The structure bisects two sides of the beach, making passage from one beach to the other difficult. The site becomes the foundation for a marine research facility that engages pedestrians and welcomes passage through the boundary.
The program includes an aquarium on the second level that invites passage beneath the underbelly of the tank. Administrative offices, research centers, cafes and learning centers complete the program.

South Boston Branch Library
location: south boston, massachusetts
Located at the intersection of diverse environmental fabrics, the library engages the bordering neighborhood and provides a definitive edge to the community.
Occupying a site that is bounded by an oil refinery on the North, a residential district on the South and West and a recreational park on the East, the design strategy includes the re-integration of an existing nearby skating rink that enables views from the library to civic functions in the arena. A children’s’ day care and a small café complete the program.

Hyer Avenue Residence
location: orlando, florida
Located in the heart of the Downtown Orlando Historic District, the projects becomes a study in modern interpretations of Florida cracker architecture. The house is elevated off of the ground to enable the circulation of air under the building, cooling the interior spaces and allowing the warm air to escape out of the dormer windows above - a pre-air conditioning idea that was practiced in Southern parts of the United States.
Although the residence maintains the character of the historic structures that occupy the district, the use of materials, the expression of construction and connection details and the integration of natural light results in a very modern building.

Louise Blouin Media
location: new york, new york
Located on the fourth floor of the Starrett-Lehigh building, the corporate office of Louise Blouin Media houses the media company’s US headquarters. Previously the location of a major printing press company, the building’s raw and utilitarian character appeals to its tenants, including fashion designers and artists. Designed by Richard Meier & Partners Architects, construction included the fabrication of a minimalist interior with exposed ductwork, polished concrete floors, long communal workstations and interior storefront glass partitions. The conference room is kept private from the main office through the use of ‘switchable’ glass that changes its levels of opacity.

Laurel Street Commerce
location: tampa, florida
Previously serving as a storage facility, the building will undergo a major transformation in order to become a Class A office center housing the headquarters for two technology driven companies.
Economically built using standard tilt wall construction, the design proposes new punched openings at office bays and removal of several tilt panels to create a new entry portal that leads to a shared lobby. Cloaked in an aluminum panelized skin, the 600’ side elevation becomes a protective shell that integrates sun shading elements and building illumination as well as a cellular transmitting tower.

Bella Vista Shops
location: orlando, florida
Through the use of layered materials, textures and indirect illumination, a previously ‘flat’ façade becomes a beacon on the avenue. Illuminated ledgestone provides a shimmer to automotive traffic that parallels the velocity of the street.
The building that once housed a film developing company and camera repair shop, eliminated windows and avoided natural lighting that could potentially damage sensitive material. Constructing new openings and sliding glass panels welcomes visitors into this multi function building.
